About My Poems

For me poetry has been a more leisurely art form. I enjoy writing poems for fun, for experimenting, and, most of all, for the Stevens Poetry Club! Similar to the stories I write, I tend towards naturalistic themes. Sadly, many poems I’ve written have never made it onto my computer, but this page ought to represent an effort to record them more!

  • The Shenandoah

Inspired by the traditional song “Shenandoah” and its connections to my life.

  • The Sphinx

A poem about the serenity of dogs, especially my dog, Pip.

  • Tied in a Not

A poem on transience ingrained within intimacy.

  • Worth the Night

A poem on intimacy and continuity of time.

  • Sun & Moon Sonnet

A sonnet inspired by the phrase “It was in love I was created and in love I hope to die.”

  • The Sea of Tranquility

    A poem about repeated journeys.

  • The River to Pray

A poem about kinship with the potomac river and occasionally muddled memories held in it.

  • Mourning for Light

A poem mourning the long days of warmer months.

  • The First Light and Long Since

A short poem on waking in good spirits.

  • No One

Inspired by the view of roadkill from a speeding car.
